During the initial backpacking ventures, most beginners are well aware of the standard precautions to dodge blisters: breaking in hiking boots, donning Merino wool socks, and promptly taping feet at the slightest hint of hot spots. Yet, despite meticulous adherence to these guidelines, the perplexing appearance of blisters can still occur. Through my personal exploration, I’ve unearthed three often overlooked factors that wield significant influence over blister prevention.
